Second river fatality in two days


A second whitewater-related boating accident fatality on the Arkansas River in as many days claimed the life of an unidentified man Saturday.
The Chaffee County Sheriff's Office reported the accident occurred about 12:30 p.m. July 12 between the Fisherman’s Bridge area and Browns Canyon approximately 8 miles south of Buena Vista.
According Undersheriff John Spezze, witnesses who were in the area at the time said they observed an unidentified man become lodged on a rock near Fisherman’s Bridge.

PB kayakers counting down to world champs

KAYAKING - FIVE Poverty Bay Kayak Club members are into the final preparations for the junior and under-23 world championships in Hungary, starting on Thursday.

The New Zealand team arrived in Hungary yesterday after an intensive European training build-up.

The team include Poverty Bay club members Jarrod Fitzgerald, Kim Thompson, younger brother Quaid Thompson, Ben Tinnelly and Britney Ford.

Coast Guard shares photos of rescued boys from kayak

 

The U.S. Coast Guard on Saturday released two more photos from the Friday morning rescue of three kayakers from the waters of Green Bay.
Alison Alter, 43, of Austin, Texas; her 9-year-old son Zach Suri; and Thomas Alter, 9, a cousin from Highland Park, Ill., had become caught in a rising wind while returning from a trip to Horseshoe Island in rented kayaks. Oh yea!!! Friday is a FUN Day!! ALL NEW JACKSON FUN!

 

Today the new FUN was born!    The mold arrived and was carefully framed up, the first few boats done to dial into mold in, get the thicknesses right, get the weight right, and then BINGO!  I have a green and a red Fun in my RV heading to Canada.    There, we’ll shoot some video, take photos, and give you a feel for how this boat performs!    I already know because I paddled the prototype and worked hard with David Knight to get the exact desired performance.    David nailed it with his magic!  What is the new Fun like?

Drunk kayakers rescued from river in Kamloops

 


KAMLOOPS – Three intoxicated kayakers were rescued after one of the men flipped his boat in the river in Kamloops.
The overturned kayak and some personal effects were found floating in the river at Riverside Park around 10 p.m. Friday and some citizens flagged down members of the RCMP bike patrol.
