Waltham paddlers among finishers in Run of the Charles

The 32nd Run of the Charles Canoe & Kayak Race, the signature event of the Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA), saw more than 1,000 paddlers race down Boston’s famed Charles River on Sunday, April 27.

The rain held off, and despite the grey skies and chilly temperatures, 150 volunteers and thousands of spectators lined the riverbanks to cheer on racers from Dedham to the Finish Line Festival at DCR’s Artesani Park in Brighton.

Several Waltham residents competed. Jairam Ramanathan finished first in the Open Category of the Rec K-2 9-Mile Race with a time of 2:03:51. Debra Weisenstein finished third in the Women Category of the Rec OC-2 24-Mile Race with a time of 5:55:28.
