2013 - it's a wrap!

Well the 2013 season for California has officially been over for a few weeks now. As the last of the damn releases dries up and we are left biding our time on the South Fork of the American, waiting for the winter rain to come to replenish the foothill rivers and charge the Sierra with enough snow to provide all spring and summer long.
Some years the rains can start in October... more often however it is December before the first substantial storms roll through. Here we are, halfway through December and still waiting... and hoping, but this does allow me to reflect on the past season without any distraction of planning the current week's adventure.
Last season started in November with enough rain to get 3 weeks of the South Yuba in before December even rolled in. Then we had a massive storm that sent local citizens scurring and local boats running for the G-wave on the American. G-wave only goes when the American just below the North and Middle forks has 25,000 cfs. This day, we watched as 25,000 cfs came and went and the water peaked closer to 50,000.
